Trachoma is one of the major causes of preventable blindness in Australia. It is found predominantly in remote and very remote communities.
This study aimed to increase community understanding of ways to prevent trachoma, and identify the best ways health promotion can be used for trachoma control in remote Aboriginal communities near Alice Springs.
Funded by the Newman's Own Foundation, Ninti One partnered with the Indigenous Eye Health Unit at the University of Melbourne to conduct the study.
Ninti One's Aboriginal Community Researchers worked with remote communities to gather insights and provide preventative health education, including through running focus groups and conducting interviews.
