Will the Crowding Be Over or Will There Still Be Overcrowding in Indigenous Housing?: Lessons from the Housing for Health Projects 1985-2010

Abstract:

The issue of overcrowding in Indigenous housing in Australia and its impact on health is discussed in the context of the 'Housing for Health' projects, 1985-2010. It is argued that building more houses will not necessarily guarantee an improvement in Indigenous Australians' health. A combination of additional homes and proper functioning of existing houses as set out in the National Indigenous Housing Guide is necessary.
