Student placement in remote Australia - a different context and culture

Abstract:
Being a midwifery student through Charles Darwin University I had been hoping to experience a remote placement. Alas, due to COVID 19 my planned six weeks at Katherine Hospital in the NT was cancelled. I did not want to leave my family in the never-ending lockdown unsupported. I was hopeful that once again I would be offered the opportunity to understand more clearly and truthfully the experience of pregnancy and birth for women living remotely and a little of their cultural perspective too.
