Abstract:

This document has categorised the history of the Pilbara into five sections. These are: Pre European settlement — Discovery of the Pilbara; From pastoral settlement in the 1860's to the discovery of gold in1888 — Early Pastoralism; From the discovery of gold to the end of the gold mining in 1920 — Pilbara Gold Rush; From the end of the gold rush to the iron ore mining boom in the 1960's — Pastoralism; and From 1960's to present — Mineral Mining - Mineral Energy
