Abstract:
In 2010, the population of the Northern Goldfields Health District was 40,992 people (1.8% of the state's population). The age-structure differs from that of the WA population by having a larger percentage of people aged less than 45 years, and a lower proportion of adults above this age. By 2020, the size of the population of the Northern Goldfields Health District is expected to increase by 19.9%, to 49,139 people In 2009, Aboriginal people accounted for 12.3% of the population of the Northern Goldfields Health District, which was greater than the state average (3.3%). Seven lifestyle and psycho-social risk factors were significantly higher in the Northern Goldfields Health District compared with the state.
