Challenges for sustainable regional tourism: A best practice model for low-impact nature-based tourism facilities in remote areas

Abstract:
The Environmental Technology Centre at Murdoch University (David Beyer), and The Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, UWA (Bernhard Elber and Grant Revell) have undertaken a study for the Cooperative Research Centre(CRC) for Sustainable Tourism to develop a Best Practice Model for Sustainable Tourism Facilities in remote areas. The study aimed to develop a holistic and independently verifiable 'best practice' assessment system. The study involved visits to low-impact facilities including Longitude 131 in N.T., and Paperbark Camp in N.S.W.
