Knowing how busy providers are, one of the most important things the Support Hub can do is share recent news and opportunities you may have understandably missed. This month we share a grant opportunity that helps providers cover some of the higher costs arising from the Fair Work Commission's 1 August 2026 wage increase but be quick if you are interested as applications close 6th October.
Grant opportunity: Addressing Historical Leave Liabilities Increases
Applications are now open for the Aged Care Award Wages – Historical Leave Liabilities Increases. This grant – from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing – helps providers cover the cost of their eligible nurses taking leave at the higher wage rates that started on 1 August 2026.
The grant offers up to:
25% of the increase to leave entitlements for residential aged care providers
50% of the increase to leave entitlements
Applications close 2:00 pm, 6 October (AEDT).
Learn more and apply through GrantConnect. Eligible Multi-Purpose Services providers will receive funding through existing agreements and should not apply for this grant.

The newsletter is designed to help older people, their families and supporters better understand their rights and the complaints process in aged care and provides practical information about aged care rights, raising concerns and making complaints, to help older people feel more confident in speaking up.
