Sharing our stories – selectability’s “listening tour”
Twice a year selectability’s senior management team including Debra Burden CEO and Dellita Dios, General Manager Aged Care visit four of their aged care services in First Nation’s communities in North West Queensland. Earlier this month Ninti One Aged Care advisor Ljubica Petrov was invited to join the visits to Kuba Natha Hostel on Mornington Island, Ngooderi House in Doomadgee, Kukatja Place in Normanton and Chivaree CentreAged in Aurukun. Debra calls this their ‘listening tour”.
The visit not only provided Debra and her team with an opportunity to listen to and speak with elderly people and staff but also to touch base with partner organisations in each of the locations.
selectability is an established provider of a range of services across Queensland however, they are recent entrants to the aged care sector. Their commitment to providing culturally safe services and high quality care was recognised by Ageing Australia as the 2025 winner of the Award in the Rural and Remote category.
Elderly people supported by selectability were most welcoming of the visitors and were pleased to be joined by wider community members at the BBQ lunch hosted at each of the locations.
Ljubica was impressed at how each of the services demonstrated commitment to enriching the lives of the elderly in their care and also ensuring that their links with the local community and services are maintained. We would like to thanks Debra, Dellita and the rest of the team for the opportunity to be a part of this special trip.
