Abstract: The Western Australian regional workforce development plans outline key challenges to workforce development in each of the nine regions of the State and provide industry, government and community sector strategies at a local and State level to address them. These strategies are aligned to the five strategic goals of Skilling WA. To generate regional ownership of the plans, regional workforce development alliances have been established within each region. Membership on the regional alliances includes representation from local business, industry groups, local governments (representing community aspirations), relevant government agencies and the local State Training Provider. The role of the Alliance is to provide leadership and oversight for the development and implementation of regional workforce development plans. The role of the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development is provide planning support (including funding) for the development and updates to regional workforce development plans.
