Notes: This chapter overviews indigenous mangement in national parks and provides (a) existing examples (b) an overview of agreements in each state of Australia (c) a brief assessment of park management models (d) discussion of the related issues , eg Indigenous use of park resources eg Community development. This section on Community Development reports that the challenge is to provide economic rewards for Aboriginal people through park management processes, and that can be achieved through rental payments, employment within the park administration and associated activities such as tourism and establishing business ventures. A table is provided that lists the potential advantages and disadvantges of joint management.
