The NATSIFAC Regulation Support team has had a busy and productive few months, walking alongside services as they navigate the transition to the Aged Care Act 2024. Across September and October, 47 of the 49 NATSIFAC service provider sites took part in workshops held around the country, with yarning and First Nations-led problem solving at the heart of each session.
These workshops created space for providers to come together ahead of the new reforms, share what was known at the time, and begin preparing for change in a supportive and collaborative environment. Regional and remote services especially valued being in a room with others who share the responsibility of caring for Elders and families, reducing the sense of having to “work it out alone” and strengthening relationships across the sector. Participants highlighted the benefits of practical discussions on governance, quality and cultural safety, and the chance to reflect on reforms in the context of community.
Between workshops, the team has been building a strong wraparound support system. The online Support Hub portal is regularly updated with new resources, including the NATSIFACP Manual, Integrated Assessment Tool guide and form, reimbursement information, templates, and the Support Hub Workbook. Over the coming months, the team will be offering individual Change Readiness Yarning Sessions, three-day site visits, and tailored support around change management, training, finance, reporting and compliance.
Through all of this, the focus remains clear: supporting services to deliver flexible, culturally grounded, and safe care for Elders, rooted in community, connection and the strengths that already exist in the sector.
