Meet the Team | March
This month the National Best Practice Unit welcomes two new team members. Ronald O’Brien, NBPU TIS Program Officer and Astrid Innes, Marketing and Communications Manager.

Ronald O’Brien is the NBPU TIS Program Officer overseeing the regions of SA, VIC, TAS and Southern NSW. He is a proud Ngarrindjeri, Kokatha and Narungga man, born and raised on Kaurna Country. With a professional background in the Education sector, Ronald has dedicated his career to working alongside Aboriginal communities, particularly in community development.
His passion lies in empowering and uplifting his community, aiming to serve as a role model for future generations and help pave the way for greater opportunities and success. As the eldest of seven siblings, he has a deep understanding of the importance of family and community.
Ronald is excited to be joining the NBPU TIS team and looks forward to meeting everyone.
Astrid Innes is the new Marketing and Communications Manager supporting the NBPU TIS and Ninti One, based in Tarndanya (Adelaide). She is a proud Mineng Noongar woman, raised on Ngadjuri country. Before joining Ninti One, Astrid was the Publications and Events Officer at St Peter’s College in Adelaide. She has also worked in Local Government, the arts and entertainment sectors, and within animal conservation.
One of Astrid’s top bucket list items is to start a haven for forgotten souls. She dreams of opening an old folks’ home for abandoned dogs, where they can live out their golden years surrounded by love, comfort and a little bit of chaos. She imagines a cozy place where every wagging tail finds peace and every pup gets the attention they deserve.
But before pursuing this dream, Astrid looks forward to supporting each team and helping deliver exceptional projects across Australia.
