Meet the team – Caitlin Olliver

Caitlin (Iman descendant) is an experienced educator and capability-building specialist with strong expertise in curriculum design, workforce development, culturally responsive practice, and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL). She works with organisations to build capability through practical frameworks, training resources and systems that strengthen governance, support staff to understand requirements, and embed continuous improvement.

Caitlin has extensive experience working across First Nations programs, including developing culturally appropriate MEL frameworks, conducting provider capacity assessments, and supporting data use for program improvement. In her work with the Support Hub, she partners with organisations to translate complex requirements into clear, accessible tools and processes that strengthen staff capability, support high-quality service delivery, and embed culturally safe outcomes.

Q&A with Caitlin

What does your role at the Support Hub involve?

I work as part of the Ninti One Support Hub admin team. This means I help facilitate online meetings and information sessions. I take notes and help create report and other templates. I am sometimes lucky enough to support the Aged Care experts during a site visit.

What’s one area you’re particularly focused on right now?

Trying to understand the Aged Care system and new Act changes so I can better help service providers, though I always rely on the Aged Care experts to check my understanding. Being an ex-teacher, I understand something about large systems, rules and regulations but there is a whole new set of words and abbreviations to learn when you change sectors.

What do you enjoy most about working with NATSIFAC program service providers?

My favourite part of any Ninti project I work on is visiting communities. As part of the NATSIFAC Support Hub I have visited some beautiful places and met remarkable people. I’m consistently inspired by the kindness and resilience of communities across Australia.

What’s something you’d like providers to know as reforms roll out?

Providers are doing an amazing job under difficult circumstances, regularly displaying a dedication to their care recipients. Take a breath – there is time to adjust to the changes and take advantage of any supports offered.

What’s your favourite downtime activity?

Gardening. I have small garden that I am re-wilding with local natives. Slowly, I am building up native undergrowth, vines, grasses etc., while removing the lawn. Pulling grass can be a great way to relax after a frustrating day.
