Celebrating 10 Years of International Impact

In 2025, Ninti is celebrating 10 years of international impact. Over the past decade, our work has expanded across 20+ countries and 30+ projects, strengthening global Indigenous inclusion, collaboration and solidarity.

A shifting global paradigm around Indigenous knowledge and collaboration has enabled Ninti to build meaningful international connections by sharing our learnings from Australia and connecting internationally. Our impact continues to grow across multiple sectors, including:

  • Justice: collaborating to explore what justice and justice responses look like for peoples living in two worlds cultural law and common law in the Solomon Islands.
  • Infrastructure: supporting inclusive infrastructure development that meets the needs of Indigenous and ethnic minority communities in Southeast Asia while connecting best practice from First Nations Australia.
  • Cultural and Intellectual Property: sharing methods of protecting Indigenous cultural and intellectual property in Papua New Guinea.
  • Health: Supporting leadership in the health sector in Papua New Guinea.
  • Indigenous Digital Inclusion: Conducting research and convening global Indigenous experts to discuss digital inclusion in diverse cultural and technological contexts in Mexico City.
  • Renewable Energy: Sharing best practice from First Nations Communities in the Northern Territory with government delegates from Timor Leste.

Over the last ten years, Ninti has played a key role in identifying and defining what Indigenous/First Nations participation is in the international development sector, and has worked with government and organisations to build traction and see partnerships and outcomes grow over time. Ninti has worked alongside the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to support Program Designs, Design Reviews, Mid-Term Reviews and has supported a number of internal reviews and regional initiatives to build on the existing program level work we do in-country.

Our international work enables First Nations individuals and organisations to share their expertise internationally with regional governments, organisations and communities to grow regional relationships, share expertise and mutually connect on important issues affecting our communities.

As we enter our next decade, Ninti remains committed to strengthening global Indigenous voices, relationships and approaches ensuring our shared knowledge continues to shape more inclusive systems and futures.

“Australia’s Indigenous Peoples are recognised as being the oldest continuous surviving cultures in the world. Our diverse perspectives are founded on deep knowledge, resilience, and a way of working that prioritises people, culture, and sustainability. There is so much potential when we genuinely respect and engage the perspectives of Australia’s First Nations people, not just to create more inclusive solutions, but to rethink how we build meaningful, lasting change.”
