Message from the Executive Program Lead NBPU TIS, Eileen Van Iersel
It was a privilege to see leadership at the recent National CEO Workshop. Each year, this workshop brings valuable perspectives and renewed energy to the program. The discussions build strongly on the ideas and connections established during the June National TIS Workers Workshop.
For those attendees who have not already done so, please take a moment to complete the evaluation survey. Your feedback is essential in shaping future workshops.
Across the past month, NBPU staff have engaged broadly with funded organisations:
- Ronald (VIC/TAS/SA PO), Sonette (QLD/NSW PO), and Senior PO Maxine visited the Torres Strait and met with teams to discuss training needs in Far North Queensland.
- Onike (WA PO) delivered training to SWAMS and KAMS, with Tommy (NT PO) supporting the session.
- To close September, Ronald and Maxine visited FIAAI in Tasmania.
In addition, Kerindy (National Workforce Development Advisor) and I attended the Closing the Gap on Indigenous Health Conference in Cairns. This provided an opportunity to examine developments in health promotion and the shifting tobacco and nicotine landscape.
TIS also had a strong presence at the PHAA Conference, where Kerindy attended alongside the Dr Penney Upton (Research and Evidence Lead) and Dr Thrishila Parshu Ram (Research Assistant).
We look forward to maintaining this momentum and carrying the energy of recent months through to the end of the year.
