Introducing General
Protocols
Protocols are rules for the way we
behave.
They are also rules for how you would
like people to act when they visit.
You can introduce a
General Protocol
with the principle of Respect for:
• Visitors
• Board members, staff and the
organisation
• Traditional Owners
• Country
• Cultural safety
You can write some protocols for visitors so they know what to
expect and what to do when they come in for meetings.
You might say
‘From this principle of respect comes willingness to listen and be fair.
Each side must listen to what the other has to say. It is also very
important for each side to try to act on any decisions that are made.’
