Two Way Governance: Presentation 6

In 1901, the colonies united as a

Federation. This brought them together

under a national government, which

they called the Commonwealth

Government.

The new governance body was called

the Parliament of the Commonwealth of

Australia.

The colonial parliaments then became

known as State Parliaments.

In 1895 Women over 21 were given the right to vote in

South Australia. This was the first time Australian women

were able to vote
