Abstract: Katherine Hospital (KH) is a small regional hospital with two operating theatres around 320km south of Darwin in the Northern Territory (NT). The Katherine region is huge, covering an area of about 340 000 square kilometres stretching across the NT from Western Australia to Queensland. Much of the surgery at KH is conducted by visiting consultants so telehealth can play a vital role in how perioperative care is delivered to the patients in the region, especially when the patient is from a remote community.
