Abstract: Argues that while mobile communities conform to the general pattern of decreaased residential density with increased community size, specific groupscan exhibit varying density/size patterns through time; problem of ethno-archaeological analogy and the relation of archaeological site size and frequency to community size; applications to contemporary communities.
