Fuel for thought -The future of transport fuels:challenges and opportunities Report

  • Author(s): CSIRO
  • Published: 2008

Abstract: The Future Fuels Forum was formed in November 2007 in recognition that the transport sector is facing serious challenges from pressures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increasingly constrained international oil supplies. The Forum’s purpose in light of these challenges was to explore scenarios, conduct quantitative modelling and share ideas as a group so as to inform policy and investment decision making within their own organisations and within the broader Australian community through the publication of this report. The discussion in this report is supported by modelling that was conducted by CSIRO on behalf of the Future Fuels Forum. A more in-depth technical discussion of the modelling has been published separately in Modelling of the future of transport fuels in Australia. There, the reader may scrutinise the various assumptions, sensitivity analysis and methodologies used to arrive at the various quantitative projections herein.
