Abstract: Australian Aboriginal youth experience significant morbidity but may find it difficult to access culturally appropriate health care, particularly in remote areas. The Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) provides care in this setting but experiences difficulties engaging with Aboriginal youth. The aim of this research was to improve access to health care for Aboriginal youth in remote Australia. Through interviews with Aboriginal youth and staff, it was established that the relationship between care provider and young people is key. Access is further facilitated through appropriate health staff providing expansive care, formation of partnerships and community outreach
