Cultural Heritage Impact Assessment – Chandler Salt Mine Project
Ninti was contracted to conduct a cultural heritage impact assessment of, and development of Cultural Heritage Management Plan for the Chandler Salt Mine Project, at Maryvale Station, NT.
Existing archaeological, ethnographic/ethnohistoric and environmental data was reviewed and on this basis, a predictive model was developed to identify areas within the project area that are likely to be of low, moderate and high archaeological sensitivity. The study worked with stakeholders and the local Aboriginal community to identify and describe likely impacts that may arise from the proposed development, such as changes to traditional land-use practices; and recommended mitigative measures.
