Co-design of STEM Education Program – Questacon
Ninti assisted Questacon (The National Science and Technology Centre) to develop a framework for a pilot “First Makers” education program, designed specifically for the needs of students and their families living in remote Aboriginal communities. It was part of the national STEM Strategy, which aims to provide relevant hands-on, self-directed experiences in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for Aboriginal students living in remote communities. We worked with communities across remote Australia, involving co-design workshops with representatives from Questacon’s Smart Skills Initiative staff, Ninti One’s Aboriginal Community Researchers and community members from the three-selected participating Aboriginal communities and schools. This was funded by Questacon and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science.
