An epidemiological field study of cardio-metabolic health in 54 remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory
Ninti was approached by the University of Canberra to complete its four-year NHMRC-funded EnRICH research project in 2017. Ninti’s role was to collect community-level perceptions by conducting focus groups and interviews in each of the 54 remote Aboriginal communities within the NT. Ninti’s Aboriginal Community Researcher network organised focus groups and site visits to all 54 communities over a five-month period. The work had to be completed quickly due to the oncoming wet season. University of Canberra’s Healthy Community Assessment Tool guided the survey. The focus of consultations in communities was primarily on perceptions of social factors that characterise the community infrastructure.
